Wellspring: the health, access and need map for six states
Wellspring is a free map that runs in your browser and works offline. It shows where chronic conditions, disability, missed checkups and screening, coverage gaps and the safety net are higher or lower, county by county and, zoomed in, tract by tract, for Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah and Washington.
- Conditions such as diabetes, depression, heart disease, asthma and high blood pressure, as the modelled share of adults in an area
- Screening and checkups: routine checkups, cholesterol, colorectal and breast cancer screening, dental visits
- Disability and independence, Medicare and Medicaid coverage, SNAP, SSI, poverty and social-needs measures
- A Screening gap panel that sets each condition against its matching care measure and the state median
Every number is a published area statistic (CDC PLACES model-based estimates, U.S. Census Bureau ACS 2020-2024), never a count of named people. Made by Gavin Kohn at thewoob.com.
